The EBA has classified Circle's USDC as the EU's first significant e-money token under MiCA, with joint EBA-ACPR supervision from 12 November 2026.
BIS paper: banks can slow stablecoin growth by paying savers more
A BIS working paper finds a one basis point rise in bank deposit rates cut ten-week stablecoin growth from about 15% to about 12%, with USDC more sensitive than USDT.
